Having a Halloween birthday is special! So it definitely deserves a special card - one that celebrates all the wonderfulness that is Halloween but that also remembers it's someone special's birthday too!
I've created a fun Halloween birthday card template for you to make and send, with a big, jolly pumpkin face and some 'Happy Halloween Birthday' wishes.
'Happy Halloween Birthday' card with pumpkin faceThe Halloween birthday card template is a digital download that you can use with your cutting machine. It's a 'cut & score' project, which means you use your cutting machine to cut the design and score the lines for the fold lines. You can also score the lines manually if you don't have the scoring tool for your cutting machine...
On this page, I discuss scoring tools, scoring manually (without a tool) and also give full step-by-step instructions for how to set up the file correctly in Cricut Design Space so that the lines score as they should - you might also find it helpful, even if you're using a non-Cricut cutting machine. Read that here!
I also have a helpful craft tutorial which goes through folding and assembling the card, once cut - you can follow that here...
Downloadable template for a Halloween birthday card with envelope - cut and score project for cutting machinesThe Halloween birthday card template is cut on the standard Cricut mat (not the specialist card mat) from three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized cardstock - and makes a finished card that's around 12 x 12 cm in size (approx. 4.7 x 4.7 inches) with an envelope that's slightly larger.
The beauty of making your own cards, is that you can get really creative with your own colour choices - I've got two good choices to share with you on this page - both very Halloween/Fall themed with warm colours...
The template comes in warm beige/taupe, with an orange inner and a bright green envelopeThe template for the Halloween birthday card is as above - with a warm taupe/beige for the outer card, a rich orange for the interior, and a lime-green envelope.
As an alternative, I also made the card in dark orange, with a white inner and a bright yellow envelope (see below).
Full of Fall cheer - orange and yellow give warm wishes for a Halloween birthdayYou could also try out other Halloween colours - especially purple, which you could stay dark with, combining with black or grey, or soften with white and lilac, depending on your recipient.
As I always say about my cards, try to get some nice contrast between the inner and outer card colours so that the design shows up really well - think about colours, but also think about contrast between light and dark, or soft and bright, to make that design stand out!
For the taupe/beige, orange & green card, I used Sizzix 'Surfacex' textured cardstock (from the neutrals pack) for the outer card (with the design) and a lightweight, coloured cardstock (160gsm) for the inner card and envelope - these last two should be smooth and suitable for writing on.
For the orange, white & yellow card, I used Cricut cardstock (from the Jewel-tone pack) for the outer card (with the design) and as above, similar lightweight, coloured and white cardstock (160gsm) for the inner card and envelope - again, these last two should be smooth and suitable for writing on.
I cut both cards using my Cricut Maker, using 'intricate cardstock' setting for the outer card, each time, and 'lightweight cardstock' setting for the inner card and envelope for each.
