Lotti Brown artist headshotHello, it's me, Lotti!

Hello, I’m Lotti - an artist and nature journaler, living in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Through my hand-drawn art, I explore the quiet magic of the natural world and the folklore woven through it - the hares, birds, and wildflowers that remind us how deeply we belong to nature.

My work is rooted in noticing, in slowing down, and in rediscovering wonder in the everyday world around us.

A Lifelong Love of Drawing, Nature & Quiet Magic

I’ve wanted to be an artist ever since I was five years old and saw a painter selling their work. That was the moment I realised that drawing pictures could be a real job and that creativity could be a way of life.

I grew up in Wales, spending weekends and holidays exploring wild hills and hidden valleys with my dad, who loved searching for traces of the legendary King Arthur. Those adventures planted something in me - a love of stories, a curiosity for history, and a sense that the landscape holds its own quiet kind of magic.

I drew constantly through school and was lucky enough to begin my career drawing maps and plans. But the long commutes and rigid deadlines began to drain that spark. I found myself feeling cut off from my creativity and, more painfully, from the natural world that had always inspired it...

Then, in 2007, everything changed...

After catching a flu that developed into ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I had to leave my job and start over.

While recovering, I began working from home as an interior designer - and I brought a dog into my life.

Those daily walks through the countryside slowly coaxed me back into noticing again - the curve of a petal, the flight of a bird, the light changing over the hedgerows.

I started taking photos, and soon after, I began drawing again...

From there, one creative thread led to another - interior design became textile design, then surface pattern design, and finally, the hand-drawn nature art that now feels like home.

Connecting with Nature Through Journaling

Journaling fungi in my nature journalJournaling fungi in my nature journal

When my dad passed away, nature journaling became my anchor - a way to find stillness, to sketch without pressure, and to rediscover the quiet magic in small things.

Spending time noticing nature - really seeing it - changed how I felt in myself...

It gave me calm, focus, and energy. It reminded me what it means to be connected - to the earth, to creativity, and to my own sense of joy.

I'm now part of the WildWonder Foundation nature journal educator program so that I can share with you all the best nature journaling techniques and ideas.

For me, nature journaling is a way to stay curious, creative, and connected. It’s less about perfect pages and more about presence, noticing, and wonder.

Art for Nature Lovers & Quiet Souls

My art celebrates our connection with the natural world - the hares in the hedgerows, the songbirds in the trees, the folklore that breathes quietly through our landscapes.

I draw each piece by hand in pen, ink, and coloured pencil, weaving together inspiration from British wildlife, medieval illuminations, and the gentle beauty of the seasons.

Through my art, I want to share the sense of calm, joy, and belonging that comes from slowing down and really noticing nature - those small moments of wonder that help to steady us when life feels busy or uncertain...

Because I truly believe that we’re meant to live in rhythm with the seasons, to notice the wildlife around us, to let nature’s beauty become part of us. There’s a kind of enchantment in those quiet moments, a sparkle that can lift our hearts and bring us home to ourselves.

The Journey So Far...

My artwork has been licensed internationally and featured on accessories, art prints, and even an app. I’ve exhibited locally and been published in books, but what matters most to me is that my work still begins the same way it did when I was five - with curiosity, a sketchbook, and a love of drawing.

You can explore my earlier artworks - nature, wildlife, and Celtic designs - all in my Living Art Archive, where each collection tells a piece of my creative story.

Explore with Me...

I believe that we are all meant to be a part of nature...

To notice, to wonder, and to let a little of that wild, quiet magic soften the edges of our everyday lives.

I do hope you'll join me for a while and explore Lotti Brown Designs with me...
