Art Inspired by Nature

A collection of nature-inspired artwork - from birds and wildlife to botanical and seasonal pieces - all drawn from observation, folklore and the changing landscape...

Nature is full of small moments - often fleeting, easily missed, but quietly meaningful...

  • A bird pausing on a branch
  • Light moving across a field
  • The first blossom appearing on a bare hedge

My artwork begins with these moments...

Each piece is drawn by hand, shaped by observation, and inspired by the changing seasons, British wildlife, and the quiet threads of folklore that run through the landscape.

You can explore the collections below - from birds and wildlife to botanical and seasonal pieces...

Art Inspired by Nature & Wildlife

Each piece begins as a careful study from my sketchbook and/or nature journal, drawn to capture both detail and spirit - I then carefully create each piece with pens, inks, and coloured pencils to make joyful artworks to help connect you with nature.

The collections celebrate the wildlife that surrounds us here in Britain - the animals, insects and birds who share our fields, woodlands, hedgerows, gardens, and skies.

Some pieces come from moments seen often - familiar paths, returning birds - while others are shaped by stories, symbolism, and the way nature has been understood across time.

Together, they form art collections rooted in noticing - and in the quiet beauty of the natural world.

These collections of nature-inspired art bring together wildlife, birds, and botanical illustrations, all drawn from observation and inspired by the changing seasons in the British landscape.

Behind the Scenes of the Artworks

Lotti Brown artist portrait

Each illustration starts in my nature journal - observing, sketching, and noting small details from walks through the local fields and woods.

I then refine these drawings into finished pieces using pens, inks, and coloured pencils, celebrating both the accuracy of nature and the joy of my imagination.

How my Earlier Digital Artworks were Created

My earlier digital artworks were all created by hand with a blend of traditional drawing and digital art techniques.

Each piece began with a pencil, pen, or brush - drawn or painted on card or watercolour paper. I would sketch a bird or animal first, then create the flowers, leaves, and other elements individually, giving each its own attention and character.

Once complete, I scanned my drawings and then brought them together digitally using Adobe Illustrator - carefully refining the colours and composition until the final piece captured the balance and brightness I imagined.

This mix of hand-drawn detail and digital artistry allowed me to explore colour and pattern in new ways, creating designs that translated beautifully into art prints, apparel, and home décor.

Though my newer work has returned to fully traditional media, I still love these earlier pieces for their creativity, joy, and the way they bridge my journey from digital designer to traditionally hand-drawn nature artist.
