Easy multimedia drawing techniques for a drawing with lots of texture, interest and depth...
Our personal drawing techniques always evolve and refine as we develop as artists and as our styles and tastes change!
I wanted to share the multimedia drawing techniques that I've been using recently to let you know how you can play about a bit with your materials, experiment and just have a go with something and see how it looks... that's how I came up with this particular technique!
For this multimedia drawing style I'll be using:
I'm very excited to share that my art is now available on a new app, Momentful - send special greetings, birthday wishes, and e-hugs!
I've just a few artworks on at the moment, with more due soon - if you'd like to take a look you can download the Momentful app on either the App Store or Google Play Store and then use the 'search' function to access the 'browse artists' section - then just look for me by name, Lotti Brown...
It's a fun app, and I've been enjoying trying it out, sending Moments to friends and family. Why not have a go too..?
Creating my art and spending quiet time in nature is very important to me. It’s one of the ways in which I’m able to take time and space to process my thoughts and feelings so that I can come back to what I call ‘my true self’, that inner authentic self.
For me, time in nature is time spent away from the expectations of society. There seems something weighty about the expectations and teachings of society that sometimes does not quite seem to be always for my higher good.
It feels vital that I should be able to take some quiet time to just ‘be’ in the natural world so that I can work out which are the ideas and thoughts coming from my own ‘true self’ and which are the ones that I have learned by rote from society.
You get used to putting down a bold mark, and it really allows your own personal, expressive drawing style to filter through.
I choose to draw with fineliner pens (often just called ‘drawing pens’ or ‘artist pens’) but there are other pen types that might suit your personal drawing style better…
So we’ll look briefly, together, at a few different options.
And then take a look at the different techniques you might use for drawing in pen and how drawing with a pen differs from drawing with pencils…
Understanding mark-making to create texture, form and detail in your drawing
In this drawing lesson, we’ll start to explore how the marks you make on your page when drawing will create the texture and form of your subject.
This is important as it helps you to show something about the qualities of what you’re drawing – to describe the details and also the texture and the form itself.
In this lesson:
Expressive drawing means being more YOU…
It means letting your thoughts and feelings show up in your drawing as part of your art.
It’s all about looking, feeling and being creative… but where to start with this?
The objective of this drawing lesson is to understand how to put your own expression and personality into your art.
In this section, we’re looking more at our personal self-expression in our art...
We’ll be building on what we thought about in the previous post about collecting personal and meaningful drawing inspiration from nature…
As well as our thoughts about what art is and why our self-expression in art matters.
