On my Drawing Table...

Here's what I've had on my drawing table for the last couple of weeks ...

I am enjoying the drawing stage very much, but also looking forward to putting these into Adobe Illustrator too, and starting to play....

Summer Garden Sketching

I'm really enjoying the summer sun this year - and took advantage of the nice weather to make a sketching trip with my artist friend to a local garden...

I took lots of photos to inspire future projects.... gorgeous flowers all in bloom...

I decided to settle next to these beautiful daisy-type flowers for some sunny sketching...

Perfect, happy summer daisies

I worked quickly and sketched in light pencil, forming the main shapes, and making notes about the detail. I sketched as many flowers as I could during the time I had, then inked in at home the following day, (during a very wet, rainy weekend)...

I will be finishing off my daisies this afternoon, and intend putting them together with some more flowers to create my designs...

Whilst in the gardens, I also met these little cuties...

Watch the birdies - I think I will be sketching these soon too!

Cottage Garden on my Drawing Table

I've been busy trying out new ideas as part of my surface pattern design course - I'm learning to push myself out of my comfort zone with regards to subject matter and technique, and enjoying some creative play (hopefully I will share some of the results in a few weeks - working on lots of different things at the moment!)...

Still, the urge to draw the flowers I see in my garden persists, and I've been taking advantage of the host of cottage garden blooms in my own garden and brought some inside to study more closely...

Here's what I'm drawing this week - I wish you could smell these too - the leaves of each are wonderfully scented...

Being inspired by flowers from my own cottage garden

I do love this time of year, but feel there are so many things I want to draw, and only so much time - I take lots of photos too .... but there's always something I say I will have to just look forward to drawing next year ;)

Enjoy your week ~ Lotti x
